Memorial Day Parade

The Ames Patriotic Council will sponsor a Memorial Day parade beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 29. The parade will start at City Hall. Anyone, especially any veteran, wishing to walk or ride in the parade is welcome. Parade participants should begin gathering at 10 a.m. on Fifth Street between Clark and Pearle or in the parking lot on the east side of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. The parade will proceed north along Clark and then east along Ninth Street to the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the cemetery. Aaron Rosheim of Ames will be the featured speaker. Mayor Ann Campbell will give the City’s welcome. Afterwards, American Legion Post No. 37 will provide lunch at the post, 225 Main St.

In case of rain, the parade will be cancelled, and the program will move indoors to the City Hall Auditorium at 11 a.m.
