The Environmental Assessment for the extension of Grand Avenue from Squaw Creek Drive to South 16th Street has been completed. The public hearing for review and comment on the assessment was heldFeb. 9, at the Ames Public Library.
The Environmental Assessment reviews the socioeconomic, cultural, natural environment, and physical resources that would be impacted by the Grand Avenue extension. The proposed alignment would require a bridge over Squaw Creek south of the existing South Grand Avenue terminus. Additionally, the improvement includes extending South Fifth Street westward from its current terminus at Walnut Street to an intersection with South Grand Avenue. The intersections of South Fifth Street and South Duff Avenue, as well as South 16th Street and South Duff Avenue are included in the improvements.
