Structure Fire at 4100 Dawes Drive
On Sunday, March 12, at approximately 11:08 p.m., Ames Fire was dispatched to 4100 Dawes Drive for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival firefighters found an abandoned single story residence with significant fire involvement throughout the first level of the structure. Due to roof collapse, the fire commander made the decision to fight the fire from outside the house with staffed water streams.
It is believed that the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, though some neighbor reports led firefighters to believe that squatters may have been inside earlier in the day. No injuries were reported and the home, valued at $163,000, is suspected to be a total loss. The fire is currently under investigation.
Ames Firefighters encourage residents with additional information about this incident to contact the Ames Police Department at 515-239-5133.
