Next Phase for South Third Street Construction Begins July 11
Road construction on South Third Street from South Grand to South Duff avenues will begin Tuesday, July 11, with traffic control and road closure put into place on Monday, July 10. The City has contracted with Mannatt’s Inc. of Ames to complete street reconstruction and resurfacing, storm water and sanitary sewer improvements, and further improvements to adjacent trails and sidewalks. Residents may notice utility locate flags as the underground utilities are located prior to construction.
There will be a full street closure of South Third Street from the east side of Grand Avenue to the west side of South Walnut Avenue. The two south lanes of South Third Street from South Walnut to South Duff will also be closed to traffic. Two-way traffic from South Walnut to South Duff will be maintained on the north two lanes of South Third Street. Access to businesses on South Third Street between South Walnut and South Duff will be maintained during this phase. To access businesses on South Third Street between Grand Avenue and South Walnut, residents should use alternate access points.
