Rummage RAMPage Set for July 28 – Aug. 2

Post Date:07/14/2017 12:31 PM
The City of Ames, in partnership with the ISU Office of Sustainability, is hosting its second “Rummage RAMPage,” a community sale designed to keep reusable items – often left on the curb during the annual move out and lease changeovers – out of the landfill. This event is structured so participants donate items, and non-profit agencies help run the sale and share in any profit. The event is open to anyone to donate or shop. Rummage RAMPage will be held Friday, July 28, through Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave.

“This is a great community event to get rid of unwanted belongings by donating them for resale. Not only are donors helping the environment, they are assisting others who need these items and can purchase them at a reasonable cost. Finally, our area non-profits benefit by splitting proceeds raised,” said Superintendent Bill Schmitt with the City of Ames Resource Recovery Plant.
Item Pick-Up/Drop-Off ONLY: Friday, July 28, noon to 6 p.m.
Item Drop-Off/Sales: Saturday, July 29, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Item Drop-Off/Sales: Sunday, July 30, noon to 6 p.m.
Item Drop-Off/Sales: Monday, July 31, noon to 6 p.m.
Item Drop-Off/Sales: Tuesday, Aug. 1, noon to 6 p.m.
Sales ONLY: Wednesday, Aug. 2, noon to 4 p.m.
Last year’s first ever Rummage RAMPage far exceeded expectations by diverting 22 tons of furniture and housewares out of the landfill and raising more than $5,000 for local non-profit agencies.

Items may be dropped off at the Ames Intermodal Facility from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, Monday, July 31, and Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Curbside pick-up of items is available for Ames residents who want to donate items but have no way to transport them to the ramp. The cost is $10 (ISU students) or $20 (Ames residents). All fees will be donated to the non-profit agencies assisting at this event. Register online at www.cityofames.org/RummageRampage. The deadline to register for curbside pick-up is Friday, July 21.
