The Ames City Council has directed staff to prepare changes to the Municipal Code that would require the installation of any missing infrastructure (including sidewalks, street trees, paving, and underground utilities) prior to occupancy of new or improved structures. This would apply to those developments for which a subdivision is not required, which has been the standard method for ensuring the installation of infrastructure. It is anticipated that any new regulations would be limited to commercial, industrial, or apartment buildings.

In order to gather feedback, the City hosted a meeting on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. in the Danfoss Room of the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Avenue.
