Three finalists have been selected to interview for the position of Ames Deputy Fire Chief. A public presentation has been scheduled for each candidate so the public has a chance to meet each finalist.
The third public presentation will be for candidate Jason Ziph at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, again at Homewood Clubhouse. Ziph is currently the Fire Inspector with the Ames Fire Department, a position he has held since 2017. He previously served as Fire Inspector for the St. Joseph, Mo., Fire Department. Ziph has a bachelor’s degree from Charter Oak State College. He has the following certifications: Paramedic, Accelerant Detection Canine Handler, Fire Inspector I, Fire Investigator I, Certified Fire Investigator, Fire Officer, Fire Inspector II, Missouri Certified Emergency Manager, Fire Plans Examiner, Certified Environmental Safety and Compliance Officer, FEMA Professional Development Series, FEMA Advanced Professional Series, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Fire Marshal, and ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.
The public is invited to attend the public presentations and share feedback on the candidates.
