The Ames Patriotic Council’s Veterans Day program will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at City Auditorium, 520 Sixth St. The program will also be streamed live on the Patriotic Council’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/amespatrioticcouncil and on the website at http://amespatrioticcouncil.org. The video will also be available for viewing at later times and days at these addresses.
Captain Duane Pitcher, U.S. Navy (Retired), will be the featured speaker. Pitcher served as the Finance Director for the City of Ames for 22 years before retiring in September.
Ames Patriotic Council President Tim Gartin will introduce the Veterans Day program. Gartin, who also serves as Mayor Pro Tem, will offer the welcome from the City of Ames. Stan Elliott will give the welcome from American Legion Post No. 37. The colors will be presented by the ISU ROTC Color Guard. The program will include musical performances by singer Jim DeHoet and the Heart of Iowa Senior Band, led by Don Dobell with a special appearance by the Ames High School Concert Chorale accompanied by Carol Weber. Roger Elliott will offer opening and closing prayers.
All veterans from all services and all periods will be honored.
