A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of a utility connection along East 13th Street under I-35 will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9. Participants should gather in the north Danfoss parking lot, 2800 E. 13th St.
The City of Ames contracted construction of a new 18-inch diameter sanitary sewer to serve future commercial and industrial development as well as residential growth in the northeastern part of Ames. The project was completed by On-Track Construction, LLC in phases beginning in October 2023 and finishing in April. The cost of the project was $2.1 million and used American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) federal funds. The work included pavement improvements under I-35.
“While the infrastructure is underground and not visible, the completed sanitary connection will ready acres of land east of the interstate for growth and development,” said Municipal Engineer Tracy Peterson, Ames Public Works.
