RAGBRAI is coming to Ames on Tuesday, July 24! The City of Ames and many partner organizations have planned a route that is welcoming to riders while being mindful of the needs of our residents and those doing business in Ames that day. Many streets will be impacted by the influx of more than 20,000 bicyclists, guests, and support vehicles as they arrive on July 24 and when they depart on July 25.
Motorists are cautioned to allow extra time when traveling around Ames. Maps and information is available at www.AmesRAGBRAI.com
On July 24, bicyclists will begin arriving in the community by 10 a.m., but heaviest bicycle traffic will be between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. Please plan ahead and allow extra time if traveling around Ames that day. Impacted areas include South Dakota Avenue; Mortensen Road; Beach Avenue, South 4th Street, 6th Street, and Downtown Ames.
Downtown will be the focal point for entertainment. The public is welcome to attend.
