Assistant City Manager Finalist Public Presentation: Megan Dodge

After a national recruitment, three finalists have been identified for the position of Assistant City Manager with the City of Ames. A public presentation has been scheduled for each candidate so the public has a chance to meet the finalists. Assistant City Manager Bob Kindred retires this spring after more than 38 years of service.

More than 70 applications were received for the position. The Assistant City Manager assists in coordinating City operations, supporting City boards and commissions, and achieving goals established by the City Council.

A public presentation by Megan Dodge is planned for 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, in the Auditorium of the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave. Dodge serves as the Assistant Director of the Government and Public Affairs Department at the City of San Antonio, Texas, a position she has held since 2017. Prior to taking that role, she served as the Chief of Staff for the department from 2016 to 2017. From 2014 to 2016, Dodge was the Intergovernmental Relations Manager for the City of San Antonio. From 2013 to 2014, she served as the Senior Management Analyst for Johnson County, Kansas. Dodge also worked for the City of San Antonio from 2009 to 2013, first as a Management Fellow (2009 to 2010), then as Senior Management Analyst in the Intergovernmental Relations Department (2010), and as Executive Assistant to the City Manager (2011 to 2013). Dodge has a master’s degree in Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Spanish, all from the University of Kansas.
