The public is encouraged to attend an open house to provide information on asphalt street improvements planned for Reliable Street (Florida Avenue to North Dakota Avenue), Florida Avenue (Ontario Street to Reliable Street), Delaware Avenue (Ontario Street to Reliable Street), and Hutchison Street (Georgia Avenue to Florida Avenue). The meeting will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, in Room 135 in Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.

This project will include pavement improvements, repair and replacement of portions of the storm sewer, as well as sanitary sewer and sidewalk improvements. The Ames City Council has adopted a Complete Streets Plan, which requires sidewalk infill when street improvements are being made. This project will be funded by City funds and not property owner assessments and is planned to be constructed during the 2019/20 construction season. During construction, there will be periods of time where access to driveways will be limited or prohibited to accommodate utility repairs and pavement replacement.

The meeting will provide general information about scope of the project and an opportunity to answer questions. “Neighbors affected by the improvements who have special access needs should share their concerns with us at this meeting,” said Civil Engineer Hafiz Ibrahim. “It helps to have that information during the design process when accommodations can be made more efficiently.”
