Franklin Park Ribbon-Cutting Event

The Franklin Park celebration scheduled for Oct. 28 has been rescheduled to Monday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. From 4 to 5 p.m., there will be an exhibit of City of Ames trucks and assorted equipment. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned at 5 p.m. to recognize park improvements. The park is located at 147 S. Franklin Ave.

Ames Mayor John Haila, members of the Ames City Council, members of the Parks and Recreation Commission, and representatives of Ames Fire, Police, Parks and Recreation, Water, Electric, and Public Works departments will be on hand during the celebration. Children are welcome to visit the different vehicles, ask questions, and receive some day-after Halloween treats.

Improvements to Franklin Park include a new two-bay set of swings west of the play equipment, an accessible concrete border around the current playground, a new shelter, drinking fountain, grills, picnic tables, and trash cans.
