The City of Ames Animal Shelter and Animal Control is a no-kill animal rescue and sheltering agency in Ames, Iowa. It is our privilege to provide excellent service and support to the citizens of Ames, both human and furry (or feather, or scaled). We are proud of our success and thanks to our adopters, donors, volunteers, and community partners, we are able to place over 98% of our dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small pets into new homes or return them to their original owners.
The public is always welcome to walk through our facility to visit our animals. One-on-one interactions with animals outside of their kennels is reserved for adoption appointments for the mental and physical well-being of our animals. Even animals become socially exhausted if they're pushed too much!
