StoryWalk Ribbon Cutting

Celebrate the opening of Ames' first permanent StoryWalk with Ames Public Library and Ames Parks and Recreation Department at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Moore Memorial Park, 3050 Northridge Pkwy. The event will include a brief program, ribbon cutting, and refreshments. A group walk to explore the StoryWalk together will follow the ceremony. The Bookmobile will also be at the park with books for all ages to check out.

StoryWalk places an illustrated children’s book taken apart and displayed page by page along a walking route. This project is a collaborative effort between Ames Public Library and Ames Parks and Recreation Department, with the Library’s Youth Services staff selecting the book for display and Parks and Recreation staff installing the platforms and pedestals on which to display the pages.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt., and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ferguson.
