Welcome to Ames!
Whether this is your first year in Ames or you're a returning Iowa State University student, the City of Ames has lots of information to share with you. The University plays a central role in our community. In addition to being geographically located in our city center, Iowa State students make up nearly half our population. While living in Ames as a student may be a different experience than a permanent resident, it's important to remember we are "One Community."
As residents of Ames, we hope you take advantage of all the wonderful amenities our community has to offer. There are parks, natural areas, miles of shared-use trails, facilities, shopping areas, dining opportunities, and more.
