The City of Ames Water and Pollution Control Department invites the community to attend an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Ames Water Pollution Control Facility, located east of Interstate 35, at 56797 280th St. This free, family friendly event will feature guided facility tours, displays, process demonstrations, and refreshments.         

Attendees will get a glimpse into a facility critical to protecting public health and the environment. While the Water Plant, 1800 E. 13th St., provides safe, quality drinking water, the Water Pollution Control Facility south of town ensures water going down toilets, showers, sinks, and drains is treated and returned safely to the environment.
