Lunch and Learn: HOME-ARP

The City of Ames will host a “Lunch and Learn” to educate and gain feedback from the public on the proposed HOME-ARP Allocation Plan as part of the City’s 2021-22 CDBG Annual Action Plan. The Lunch and Learn will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in the City Council Chambers at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. No meal will be provided; please feel free to bring your own sack lunch.

The City of Ames is submitting a Substantial Amendment to its 2021-22 CDBG and HOME Annual Action Plan to include $1,269,248 HOME American Rescue Plan (ARP) Funding. The HOME-ARP Allocation Plan is a requirement of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the use of grant funds to be used to provide for an assessment of the services, shelter, and housing inventory, needs, and gaps of the following qualifying populations:

  • individuals or households experiencing homelessness
  • at-risk of homelessness
  • fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking
  • other populations where providing assistance would prevent the family’s homelessness or would serve those with the greatest risk of housing instability
  • veterans and families that include a veteran family member that meets one of the preceding criteria

Written comments or inquiries may be submitted to the Department of Planning and Housing at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, 50010, or by email to vanessa.bakerlatimer@cityofames.org from March 7 through March 22. The Ames City Council will also discuss the approval and submittal of the plan at its meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at City Hall Council Chambers, 515 Clark Ave.

Copies of the Annual Action Plan are available for review at the Department of Planning and Housing, Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave. The plan also is available on the City’s website at www.cityofames.org/housing
