Ames Park and Recreation Department seeks lifeguards, cashiers, admission/concession shift leaders, and seasonal maintenance staff for the upcoming season at Furman Aquatic Center. An onsite hiring event specifically for lifeguards will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, at Forker Pool on Iowa State University campus, (534 Wallace Road). Candidates will have the opportunity to apply, interview, complete the lifeguard pre-skills assessment, and sign up for a free lifeguard course at this event. Candidates will need to bring the appropriate swim attire, towel, and a knowledge of available dates for lifeguard certification course.

Position description:

• Lifeguard: Must be at least 15 years old. Free lifeguard certification course provided to all Furman Aquatic Center staff ($200-plus value). Must be able to pass pre-skills assessment of 300-yard swim, two-minute tread, and 10-pound brick retrieval test. Pay range $13.26-$14.07 hourly.
