After a national recruitment, two finalists have been selected to interview for the position of Assistant City Manager for the City of Ames. A public presentation has been scheduled for each candidate, which includes the opportunity for residents to meet the finalist and ask questions. The presentations will be held in the City Council Chambers, second floor of Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave.
The Assistant City Manager assists in coordinating City operations, supports City boards and commissions, and works toward achieving goals established by the City Council.
Roxanne Murphy, of Bellingham, Wash., will give a public presentation at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 19. Murphy most recently worked as the Operations Department Administrator for the Nooksack Indian Tribe in Washington state, a position she held from August 2022 through May 2023. Prior to that role, she was Borough Manager for Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska, from 2021 to 2022. Murphy also worked for the City of Valdez, Alaska, as Assistant City Manager (2018-2021) and Interim City Manager (2019), and for the Nooksack Indian Tribe as Youth Department Director (2015-2018) and Assistant to the General Manager (2011-2015). Murphy has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Central Washington University and a master’s degree in public administration from The Evergreen State College.
The second public presentation will be for candidate Julianne Griffin, of Colorado Springs, Colo., at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28.
