Ames Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Scholarship Golf Classic to benefit the scholarship program offered by the department. 

The Scholarship Golf Classic will be Friday, Aug. 25, at Homewood Golf Course, 401 E. 20th St. The format will be an 18-hole four-person best shot, with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Team fee is $400. Registration is available online at www.amesparkrec.org; in person at the Community Center, 515 Clark Ave., or Homewood Golf Course, 401 E. 20th St.; or by phone at 515.239.5350 or 515.239.5353.

The City of Ames Parks and Recreation Department offers scholarships to assist youth with program registration fees. Currently, up to 50 percent of the program registration fee is forgiven through the scholarship, up to $60 per calendar year. Scholarships are also available to families to purchase seasonal swimming passes, with 50 percent of the season pass fee being forgiven through the scholarship.

All net proceeds from these events will go directly to the scholarship fund.
