An open house is scheduled to gather public input on planned improvements to Welch Avenue, from Lincoln Way to Chamberlain Street. This block of street is scheduled for reconstruction in FY 2019/20 as part of the City’s Capital Improvements Plan. The open house will have streetscape options for participants to consider featuring different plans that include options such as extended sidewalks, vegetation, bike lanes, and on-street parking. The open house will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Ames Public Library Auditorium, 515 Douglas Ave.
There will be no formal presentation, and participants can come and go at their convenience to view the prospective design ideas. City staff will be available to answer questions. Those who are unable to attend the open house should take the Welch Avenue online survey at:
www.CityOfAmes.org/WelchAve to provide feedback.
The survey will close on Sunday, Sept.16.
