The public is encouraged to join Mayor John Haila and Ames City Council members at a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the completion of the Tripp Street extension. The celebration is planned for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, and participants may park along the new street by entering from Wilmoth Avenue and heading east. The ribbon-cutting will be held at the intersection of Tripp Street and State Avenue.

The project extended Tripp Street from Wilmoth Avenue east to State Avenue.  The construction, which began in May, involved new concrete and asphalt street pavement, water main installation, electric infrastructure, and storm water improvements.The Tripp Street extension was paid for by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and represents the first step in developing the former Ames Middle School site into a mixed-income, single family housing development.
