The City of Ames will host two public forums to educate the public on the status and the future of the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs and to gather public feedback for its 2020-21 Annual Action Plan projects.
There are two meetings scheduled. One meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., in Room 135. A second meeting will be held over the lunch hour from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Ames City Hall Council Chambers. Participants are welcome to bring a sack lunch and eat during the meeting.
The funding of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020, has not been announced. CDBG and HOME funds can be used to implement a wide variety of community and economic development activities directed towards neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and the provision of improved community facilities and services. The funded activities must meet the following three national objectives: 1) benefit persons of low and moderate income; 2) aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; and 3) meet other community development needs of particular urgency.
