The 2024 season pass can be used during the summer season (May 25 through September 2, 2024) at Furman Aquatic Center. Visit www.cityofames.org/prcalendars for facility calendars.
Each swipe card is assigned to a specific person and may not be transferred or used by any person other than the registered pass holder.
Weather related closings will be determined by Ames Parks and Recreation staff. Staff will consider the air temperature, wind speed, cloud cover, past and current attendance and weather forecast to make decisions on weather related closings.
Weather related closings and other information regarding the Furman Aquatic Center will be posted on the Furman Aquatic Center Facebook Page and Information Line, 515-239-5434 (#6).
It is our wish to keep as much of the pool open as possible once school starts in August. We may have to close amenities or basins to ensure the safety of our patrons. We will post these closures on the Furman Aquatic Center Facebook page as timely as possible.
Purchasing a season pass is not a guarantee that the pool will be open and available to pass holders every day of the season. Weather conditions that are not favorable to swimming or low attendance may close some amenities, basins, or all of the pool.
Located in the heart of Ames, the $10 million Furman Aquatic Center includes a 550' lazy river with a waterfall and two tremendous water slides both over 200' in length. There's a 50 meter pool that boasts a 150' drop slide, basketball hoops, 3-meter platform, and a 1-meter spring board. A 5,000 square foot recreational pool includes zero depth entry, spray features, a large play structure, a children's slide, and a toddler slide.
Deep Water Test: Kids 12 and under. Child must push off from the side of the pool, swim to the middle of the 50 meter basin using the crawl stroke (with face in the water), tread water for 30 seconds and then swim using the crawl stroke (face in the water) back to the side of the pool.
