Public WiFi is available at two locations in Ames for students and others who need an Internet connection in the community.
- Furman Aquatic Center, 1635 13th St. The public WiFi signal at Furman extends from the aquatic center building to 13th Street.
- Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave. The Library’s WiFi signal extends to the area outside of the building.
With the numerous closings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools and many businesses are now operating entirely online. However, not everyone in the community has access to the Internet. “For those who need a free, accessible connection to the Internet, these public WiFi locations are both options,” said Deb Schildroth, Assistant City Manager.
As the spread of the virus continues to evolve, residents should continue to seek information through public health authorities. Information and resources, including links to public health authorities, are available at www.cityofames.org/COVID19
