Ames Public Art Commission Storm Drain Art

In 2022 the Ames Public Art Commission commissioned 6 artists to design and paint pieces next to storm drains in Downtown and Campustown. The purpose of the art is to educate the public about the function of the storm drain and that in many cases there is no treatment of the runoff before it enters waterways.  What goes into the storm drain ends up in the waterways and can affect the health of aquatic life.

Look for these designs Downtown and Campustown!
