What is the InBody 570?

The InBody 570 is a machine that measures your body composition.

How does it work?

The InBody uses a method of measurement called "bioelectrical impedance" to measure body composition by sending tiny electrical currants through the body. The currents are competely harmless, and you can't feel them.  

What is body composition?

Body composition refers to the percentages of fat, bone, muscle, and water in your body.

How accurate is it?

Studies have shown the InBody to be 98% accurate. 

Who can take this scan?

People of all ages and fitness levels can take this test. 

Who should NOT take this scan?

Individuals who have a pacemaker, are pregnant, or cannot stand without assistance due to safety reasons.  

What factors may affect the accuracy of my results?

Hydration status, nutrition, medications, accessories such as jewelry, heavy clothing, and improper posture may affect the accuracy of test results.  

How should I prepare for my scan/what should I wear?

 Maintain a normal fluid intake.
 Stand upright for at least 5 minutes prior to your test.
 Wear lightweight clothing and avoid having any extra items in your pockets.
 Use the restroom before your test.
 Avoid eating or exercising at least 3 hours prior to your test.
 Try to avoid excess alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours prior to your test.
 Avoid using a shower or sauna immediately before your test.
 Avoid lotion or ointment on your hands/feet prior to the test.

The Community Center Front Desk. The person conducting your scan will meet you there.

What will it cost?

$30/scan.

How long will it take?

The scan takes about 60 seconds, and you will have a short consultation afterward lasting about 15 - 20 minutes. 

Who will be conducting my scan?

Ames Parks & Recreation Personal Trainers.

How often can I have a scan done?

We recommend a scan not be done any more than 3-6 months.
